Workplaces contain many potential hazards which, if left uncontrolled, may cause equipment damage, injury, or even death. This is particularly true of coal mines due to the sheer size of equipment involved, the extensive use of conveyors, dusty conditions, twenty-four hour operation, the use of explosives, and so on.
